Amplexor raises funds for Rikolto at "20km de Bruxelles" run
5 June 2018
On 27 May, Amplexor’s team of runners were among the 40,000 participants at the annual "20km de Bruxelles" race in Belgium. This activity was promoted as a part of our corporate social responsibility initiatives in Belgium, with a fundraiser for Rikolto, formerly known as Vredeseilanden/VECO, an independent Belgian non-governmental organization for development cooperation.
Rikolto supports smallholder farmers to build eco-responsible businesses that take up their role in rural poverty alleviation and contributes in feeding a growing world population in a sustainable way. To support this mission, the organization also advocates better policies through lobbying and campaigns and encourages consumers to opt for sustainable food choices.
At Amplexor we realize we’re just a small part of a much bigger picture and this is why we have corporate social responsibility in the heart of our business strategy. Our global teams are encouraged to get involved in the local communities through volunteer programs or supporting charities. By supporting Rikolto, we are demonstrating our commitment to socio-economic sustainability and playing an active role in building a better future for generations to come.
The "20km de Bruxelles" (in French) "20km door Brussel" (in Dutch) has run annually since 1980, organized by IB Brussels Promotion 1886, a bilingual and apolitical association that aims to promote the Brussels-Capital Region. The race is held every year on the last Sunday of May, and is sponsored by the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. This year, the journey through Brussels’ most beautiful monuments and parks included more than 350 teams supporting associations or charities. Our team in Belgium is already planning to participate in the next year’s event and surpass this year’s fundraising accomplishments.
