Amplexor was present at the fourth European Language Resource Coordination (ELRC) Conference

Markus Welsch, Amplexor Content Intelligence Vice President, was invited to give a presentation on post-editing productivity with domain-adapted neural machine translation (NMT). Sharing his expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural language processing, he illustrated a scientifically sound methodology adopted by Amplexor for quantifying the impact of different domain-adapted NMT engines on post-editing productivity.

Following the presentation, Markus joined the roundtable focused on efficient and sustainable translation and procurement processes. Other panel speakers included language technology and data experts from the Bank of Greece, the Swedish Language Council, Pangeanic, and the Centre for Integrated Health Care and eHealth.

The event took place between 26 and 27 November in Helsinki, Finland, under the motto #LanguageDataMatters, shaping Europe’s multilingual future through the sharing of language data.

With a welcome keynote by Gail Kent, Director of Data at the European Commission’s DG CONNECT, the two-day program featured sessions on artificial intelligence and the digital transformation of public services. Other topics included creating sustainable language data sharing infrastructures in Europe as well as funding opportunities for language technologies in Europe.

The European Language Resource Coordination (ELRC) initiative was launched in 2015 by the European Commission, aiming to reduce language barriers in the European Union in order to facilitate the creation of a true Digital Single Market and prepare the future trans-European digital online public services.

The Consortium involves prominent European language industry stakeholders like the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the Evaluations and Language Resources Distribution Agency (ELDA), the Athena Research and Innovation Center in Information, Communication and Knowledge Technologies / Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP), and the National Anchor Points from 30 participating countries.
