Every year, on the second to last Saturday in May, Amplexor runs across Brussels in the annual "20km de Bruxelles" race in Belgium, and this year was no exception. An international team with members from Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg and France was pleased to participate, along with 40,000 other participants at the 40th edition of the run. For the second year in a row, we partook in the event as a fundraiser for an independent Belgian non-governmental organization, Rikolto, as part of our corporate social responsibility initiatives in the country.
As a development cooperation, Rikolto supports smallholder farmers in building eco-responsible businesses to alleviate rural poverty and contribute to sustainably feeding a growing world population. To support their mission, the organization also advocates better policies through lobbying and campaigns and encourages consumers to opt for ecological food choices.
At Amplexor, we have corporate social responsibility in the heart of our business strategy. Our global teams are encouraged to get involved in their local communities through volunteer programs or by supporting charities. Our fundraising for Rikolto, demonstrates our commitment to socio-economic sustainability and ensures we play an active role in building a better future for generations to come.
The "20km de Bruxelles" (in French) "20km door Brussel" (in Dutch) has been an annual event since 1980. Organized by IB Brussels Promotion 1886, a bilingual and political association that aims to promote the Brussels-Capital Region, the event is sponsored by the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. The race travels through Brussels’ most beautiful monuments and parks, often including more than 350 teams supporting various associations and charities. 2019’s event has only just wrapped up, but plans are already underway for our Belgium team to participate again in the 2020 run!
