Amplexor Awarded EUR 36m Translation Contract by the European Commission

For the third time in a row, Amplexor has been awarded the translation contract for the European Commission's DG Growth, in accordance with the notification procedure established under Directive (EU) 2015/1535. This Directive is a tool for information, prevention and dialog in the field of technical regulations on products and Information Society services. It helps economic operators to anticipate and prevent the creation of barriers to trade likely to affect their activities.

Among other services, Amplexor provides expert translation services. According to Amplexor, the new contract represents €36 million in revenue over 4 years (approximately €9 million per year).

The translation service provider works in 506 language combinations to ensure the effective implementation of Directive (EU) 2015/1535. Under this Directive, Member States must inform the Commission, in their respective official languages, of any draft technical regulation in any sector (automotive, logistics, pharmaceutical, IT, construction, communications, etc.). The European Commission is responsible for providing translations of notification messages of notified drafts and communicating them to the other Member States. Amplexor translates an estimated 54 million words a year, equating to around half a billion words over the course of the previous two contracts. Documents may be drafted in any one of the 23 official languages of the Member States of the European Union.

"This is the third time Amplexor has won this contract – we have worked with DG Growth since 2008 and the contract was renewed in 2012. Amplexor is one of the top experts in the field worldwide", stated Eric Pieters, Vice-President of Amplexor Professional Services in Belgium.
