The Microsoft Sharepoint 2007 platform has had a major impact on the world of Enterprise Content Management. It gave a significant boost to the ECM market by bringing an affordable and user friendly product to the market. Apart from being a huge commercial success it also forced a lot of classic ECM software vendors to adapt their products and offer integrations with the omnipresent Sharepoint platform.

During this seminar, Microsoft will bring you the results of their research on the adoption of tools that increase the productivity of organizations. On the basis of this research, they have developed the Business Productivity Infrastructure Optimization (BPIO) model that helps organizations efficiently introduce new technologies like MOSS 2007 on a step-by-step approach.

During the case study sessions, you will learn why and how Borealis built their new global intranet with the Sharepoint Web Content Management system.

The second case study will show how The National Institute for the Social Security of the Self-employed developed an internal knowledge management system based on MOSS 2007 where internal legal information is enriched with external information sources like the legal databases of Kluwer.

With the launch of Search Server this spring, Microsoft has made its first steps into the enterprise search market. In this session, the market positioning and features of Search Server are discussed - together with an evaluation of a Proof-of-Concept at UZ Leuven, where Search Server is used to give end-users a single access point to a range of content sources.
