Amplexor specialises in Acquia/Drupal solutions for businesses and authorities

Leuven, 2 March 2010 – Amplexor - a specialist in enterprise content management (ECM) and web content management (WCM) - completed a number of key Internet projects in 2009 based on Drupal open source software. The Leuven-based firm has seen a growing interest in Drupal solutions among businesses and authorities.

Thanks to Acquia, there now is a commercial version of Drupal software in addition to the core open source software. This version offers several modules including site monitoring and indexing, patches and updates, online and telephone support, etc. In 2008, Amplexor became the first Acquia Gold Partner in Belgium and has continously developed into the leading Acquia/Drupal specialist on the Belgian market.

The University Hospitals Leuven (www.uzleuven.be) were among the first clients to have Amplexor install the Drupal web content management system. The project included an overhaul of all the University Hospitals’ existing websites, mainly aimed at simplifying the content management by enabling decentralised encoding.

This initial project was followed by an ambitious website project for UitInVlaanderen (www.uitinvlaanderen.be); featuring a new name, new design and numerous enhanced facilities, this website has since become a leader in the field for culture and leisure activities in Flanders.

Berthold Ballet, Sales Account Manager at Amplexor, testifies: ”The UitinVlaanderen website has become our first benchmark for using the Drupal WCM software. Thanks to numerous positive reactions to that project, we have been able to participate in tenders for other projects of the Flemish Government.”

For example, there is the www.ewi-vlaanderen.be portal of the Department of Economy, Science and Innovation. Visitors to this site can use sophisticated thematic browsers, allowing them to look for different kinds of information, such as budgets, statistics, policy documents, and so on.

Just recently, the website of Muntpunt, the Flemish Communications House in Brussels (Vlaams Communicatiehuis Brussel, www.muntpunt.be), was also developed with the help of Drupal. The site is the first digital step for Muntpunt, whose centrepiece is an integrated browser for the library’s catalogue. It also includes the UitinBrussel events calendar.

Lode Vandermeulen, sales manager at Amplexor, adds: “One of the main advantages of the Acquia/Drupal web content management platform is that it enables new sites, intranets, portals and blogs to be built easily and quickly. Projects can be completed in less time, which of course helps to keep costs down. We have therefore noticed that Drupal is increasingly sought after as an ‘enterprise CMS’, of interest to large companies and authorities.”

After conducting an in-depth market analysis, the Vlaamse Media Maatschappij (Flemish Media Company) – parent company of the VTM, 2BE, JimTV television channels and the Q-Music and JOEfm radio stations – selected Drupal as its central CMS platform and chose Amplexor as its integration partner. Since the Drupal platform was set up in mid-2009, various different sites have already been created, including JimTV (www.jimtv.be), iWatch (www.iwatch.be), vtm (www.vtm.be), etc.

Among the other Drupal references, we should mention the websites of Base, the Flemish interior administration agency (Agentschap voor Binnenlands Bestuur - now under construction) and the Socio-economic council of Flanders (Sociaal Economische Raad Van Vlaanderen- also now under construction).
