Amplexor wins two CMS awards!
Provant.be carries off first prize (with the highest scores in all categories)and the Motivation Award is given to the search engine project for Digipolis Ghent
Louvain, 16 November 2006 – Amplexor, which specialises in enterprise content management (ECM), saw two of its projects honoured at the second CMS awards ceremony held at Evere on Wednesday evening. The CMS awards have been presented each year since 2005 to the best Belgian Internet sites based on a content management system (CMS). Amplexor created the new Internet site for the province of Antwerp – Provant.be – launched in September. Provant.be was awarded the first prize by the jury, which gave it the best scores in all categories. The search engine implemented by Amplexor for the City of Ghent portal was honoured with the Motivation Award in the enterprise search category.
Honours to the Provant.be project
In September, the province of Antwerp launched its totally revamped Internet site – provant.be. This portal site hosts seventy or so services and institutions in the province, ranging from various departments, schools and sports facilities to parks, estates and museums. Amplexor was commissioned to design this portal and to manage the project.
The project is divided into three strands: harmonisation (navigation and structure), compilation of information (setting up procedures to compile the site content, for which training was give to around seventy staff of the province) and the technical implementation (the CMS used was Tridion R5 and the search engine used was FAST).
At the request of the province of Antwerp, from the very outset of the project, special attention was paid to accessibility for everyone (the blind and visually impaired, people without recent computers, colour-blind, etc.). In October, these efforts had already been crowned by obtaining the AnySurferPlus label, which replaces the BlindSurfer label. Provant.be is the only site in Flanders to have received the Plus label.
The search engine for the City of Ghent Internet portal for Digipolis
This summer, Digipolis, the IT supplier for the cities and public welfare centres (CPAS) of Ghent and Antwerp, launched the new portal for the City of Ghent. The search engine was one of the most important elements right from the start of the project. Amplexor opted for technology from the Norwegian company FAST for this purpose. The results speak for themselves, with half of all visitors using the search engine to browse the site. FAST technology was also used for the City of Ghent intranet.
