AMPLEXOR brings Augmented and Virtual Reality to Zurich

AMPLEXOR’s Business Breakfast: Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR and VR) brought together corporate innovators, technical authors, and marketing professionals at the Prime Tower in Zurich, on 17 May.

The event was co-organized with RE‘FLEKT, market leader in the field of augmented and virtual reality. It aimed to provide business leaders from the region with an opportunity to try out different technologies, see use cases in their field and understand how to integrate a scalable production environment for augmented reality applications in their own company.

Jannik Hol from RE‘FLEKT presented participants AR and VR’s potentialities for business, showcasing well-known examples of their applications, such as the Leybold Smart Service Assistant maintenance application. He also presented an exciting preview of new developments that will be adopted in the near future.

Julia Hoffgaard, Technical Documentation Consultant at AMPLEXOR, focused on the needs of the content’s distinct end users, as well as on the integration of AR with areas such as service, maintenance and technical documentation. Our expert won over the audience with her demonstration on how technical information can be transformed into interactive and engaging new formats such as AR. She also pointed out the key factors required for successfully implementing AR and VR projects based on product information, technical documentation and existent 3D-data. Various use cases for marketing & sales, e-commerce, maintenance and troubleshooting were presented.

The attendees also enjoyed an interactive demo session with glass devices like the Microsoft HoloLens, AR apps for tablets and smartphones and VR experiences on the Samsung Gear.
